In 1997 our committee put into action what many believed to be the impossible - to acquire our own ground and erect facilities which would be the best on offer in the Western Cape, if not the whole of South Africa.

This was, against all odds, achieved in February 2000 when we moved into our new premises which comprised 30ha of land, a 270m2 air-conditioned clubhouse, caretakers accommodation, 10 trap ranges, 2 trap practice ranges, 2 skeet ranges, 1 trench range, 2 Compak sporting range and FITASC sporting ranges. More recently we have acquired a further 18 ha and build a state of the art, fully automated Olympic trap range

In addition we have installed an irrigation system for all our trees (about 400 planted so far) and lawns. Water for irrigation is pumped from our neighbours dam, almost 500m away.

We have employed a caretaker who with his wife reside on the premises and take care of the day to day tasks like cutting grass, checking machines and watering.

We are now indisputably the leading clay target shooting club in the Western Cape with a paid up membership in excess of 260.

Valley has a proud history of excellent shooters, a number of whom have attained Provincial, CTSASA as well as National Colours, but there are also many of our members who practice the sport simply for their own enjoyment. Club competitions for each of the standard disciplines are held on a monthly basis (refer to shooting calendar) and whilst attendance at such competitions is voluntary members are nevertheless encouraged to participate.

Valley Gun Club is a clay target only, shooting facility.
